UDA and Opposition Leaders Unite to Support Family of Former NCPB Manager Peter Imoh

May 12, 2026| Leaders affiliated with both the ruling UDA party and the opposition on Sunday set aside their political differences to support the family of Peter Imoh, a former manager of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), who died following a cardiac arrest.

The fundraiser and condolence meeting was held at Ateukut B Village in Akobwait Sub-location, Changara Location, bringing together politicians, local leaders, and residents from across the political divide.

The late Imoh was a staunch ODM supporter and played a key role in mobilizing support for Busia Governor Paul Otuoma in Angurai East Ward during the 2022 General Election. In contrast, his wife, Grace Chelagat Imoh, who contested the Busia Woman Representative seat in 2017, is a strong supporter of President William Ruto and the ruling UDA party.

UDA Teso North Sub-County Chairperson Mary Okedi, accompanied by Secretary General Ronald Osialai and other party officials, led the fundraising delegation to condole with the bereaved family. The UDA leaders said the grace of God remains sufficient during difficult times and used the occasion to highlight key achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Among the achievements cited were the reduction of fertilizer prices from KSh 7,000 to KSh 2,500 per fifty-kilogram bag, the recruitment of 46,000 Junior Secondary School intern teachers, and the disbursement of over KSh 50 billion through the Hustler Fund to support youth and small businesses. “Wananchi are appreciating these tangible UDA services and will not be swayed by euphoria and rhetorical outbursts. On this basis, UDA is positioned to secure all elective seats in Teso North come 2027,” Okedi said.

The party leadership also commended Angurai East Ward MCA aspirant Cleophas Okisai for his dedication to both the community and the party, despite recovering from a recent surgical procedure.

Okisai outlined a five-point development agenda for Angurai East Ward, including upgrading Changara Health Centre to a Level Three facility, lobbying for the elevation of Kolanya Boys High School to university status, tarmacking the Kimaet–Lwakhakha road, expanding access to solar-powered boreholes, and ensuring Changara land records currently held in Bungoma are returned to the Busia Lands Office.

UDA officials praised Okisai’s vocal advocacy on the Bungoma–Busia boundary dispute in Changara, describing it as people-centered leadership. The party also acknowledged Baldwin Masika, the Angurai East Ward UDA Chairperson, for coordinating the successful event.

The late Peter Imoh was an uncle to Nyeri County Administration Police Commander Dennis Otero and KBC radio presenter Dorah Manya, among other relatives. Imoh previously served as an NCPB manager in Nairobi, Meru, Lodwar, Kapenguria, Malaba, and Webuye before resigning in 2005 after reportedly declining a planned transfer to North Eastern Province. He will be laid to rest on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Among those who attended the fundraiser were former gubernatorial aspirant Dan Mogoria, Angurai East MCA David Parapara, MCA aspirant CPA Noah Chemasuet, representatives of ACC Charles Cheseto, and the area Member of Parliament.
