Faith, Family, and Leadership: Elders Bless Vincent Sidai’s Gubernatorial Bid During Easter Gathering

BY REUBEN OLITA

April 6, 2026| As Christians around the world celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Ikaruok Sidelewa Clan came together for a sacred mission—to bless one of their own, Lay Canon Eng. Vincent Sidai, in his quest for the Busia gubernatorial seat.

The clan gathered at the Emukule family home in a powerful display of unity, prayer, and thanksgiving. Grandparents, parents, siblings, and in-laws stood side by side—a rare and deeply moving scene that highlighted the enduring bonds of family, faith, and shared destiny.

Speaking after the ceremony, Sidai described the moment as both spiritual and symbolic.

“This Easter was not just a celebration of faith, but a time of reflection and renewal,” he said. “Just as the resurrection signifies new life and hope, I feel a renewed sense of purpose for the journey ahead.”

Sidai thanked the elders for their blessings and counsel, noting that their prayers had strengthened his resolve and affirmed his leadership path.

“The elders reminded us that leadership begins at home—grounded in values, unity, and service to others,” he added. “Their blessing is not merely political; it is spiritual, cultural, and generational.”

Unlike his first attempt at the governorship in 2013 at age 39, Sidai emphasized that this bid is backed by greater experience, a stronger network, and a deeper understanding of the community.

“Today, I walk this journey with renewed strength and wider support. Step by step, guided by faith, family, and the will of the people, we move forward with hope and determination.”

He closed by urging residents to carry the spirit of Easter beyond the holiday—as a call to unity and a shared commitment to building a better future.

“May the spirit of Easter guide us, unite us, and renew our dedication to service,” Sidai said.
