October 14, 2026| Angurai North Ward MCA aspirant Gerald Ekisa has called upon County Bishop Patrick Wanyonyi of Faith Church of Christ International (FCCI) to pray for him as he prepares for another attempt at the seat in the 2027 General Election.

Ekisa extended the same appeal to ACK Katakwa Diocese Bishop Dr. Vitalis Job Ekuru and Bishop David Osangir of the World Harvest Church during an interdenominational burial service over the weekend.

In an emotional plea lasting less than a minute, Ekisa drew the attention of mourners at the burial of Captain Alex Oluka, held at Kolait Comprehensive School grounds.

“My Lordship Bishops, I have tried a couple of times, but Lady Luck has not smiled on me. Pray for me so much so that in 2027, I manage to clinch that seat and bring more development to the ward,” he said.

His appeal underscored his determination to make another bid for the ward’s MCA seat after previous unsuccessful attempts.

Ekisa also described Captain Oluka’s death as a major setback to the family, noting that the fallen pilot was an accomplished individual whose contribution could have transformed society.

He thanked leaders who turned up to condole with the bereaved family, saying their presence demonstrated solidarity during a moment of grief.

Among those who attended the high-profile burial were Busia Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, Teso North MP Oku Kaunya, Teso South MP Mary Emaase, Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Amug Osiya and Engineer Vincent Sidai.

The ceremony also attracted elected and nominated Members of County Assembly (MCAs), several political aspirants and other leaders who joined family members, friends and residents in paying their last respects to the deceased.

Bringing together leaders from across the political divide, the burial ceremony served as the backdrop for Ekisa’s renewed appeal for prayers ahead of his 2027 electoral bid.
