May 4, 2026| Residents of upper Kakamega County have pledged support for Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, as a preferred gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

During a Labour Day event in Malava, Dr. Inyangala donated food and bedding to vulnerable families. Residents cited her community initiatives as reasons for their backing, noting that the upper region has not produced a governor despite having a large voter base.

Locals expressed frustration over marginalization in county development for the past 15 years and distanced themselves from political wrangles involving Governor Fernandez Barasa and Women Representative Elsie Muhanda. They described Dr. Inyangala as a focused, service-oriented leader.

Residents pledged to mobilize votes, arguing that it is time for Kakamega North to produce the next governor. They praised Dr. Inyangala’s development record and expressed confidence that her leadership would reduce corruption and raise development standards.

Dr. Inyangala acknowledged the endorsements, stating that the county requires fresh leadership. “I have heeded your calls. Together, let us vote wisely for the desired change,” she said, calling for grassroots voter registration. She affirmed her readiness to serve with respect and decorum.
