June 12, 2026| For years, students at Shiraha Secondary School squeezed into overcrowded classrooms, competing for limited space as teachers struggled to deliver lessons in an environment stretched beyond capacity.
Yet despite the challenges, the learners kept dreaming—of becoming doctors, engineers, teachers, and leaders capable of transforming their communities.Today, those dreams received a major boost.
Hundreds of students, parents, teachers, and local residents gathered in celebration as Butere MP Tindi Mwale (inset) commissioned a magnificent eight-classroom modern storey building at Shiraha Secondary School in North Marama Ward.
The project was fully funded by the Butere National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).The imposing structure now stands proudly within the school compound—symbolizing more than bricks and mortar.
It represents opportunity, dignity, hope, and a brighter future for generations of learners. As students toured their new classrooms, excitement and joy were evident on their faces.
For many, the modern facility is a sign that their education matters and that their dreams are worth investing in. Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Mwale emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives and breaking the cycle of poverty.
“Every child deserves a conducive environment to learn and excel. When we build classrooms, we are not just constructing buildings; we are building futures, nurturing talents, and creating pathways for our children to achieve their ambitions,” he said.
The new facility comes at a time when student enrolment at Shiraha Secondary School continues to grow, creating pressure on existing infrastructure.
The additional classrooms will help ease congestion, improve concentration during lessons, and provide a more comfortable environment for both learners and teachers.
Teachers at the institution expressed optimism that the improved learning environment will contribute significantly to better academic outcomes. Parents, too, welcomed the project, noting that quality infrastructure gives learners confidence and motivates them to remain in school.

A BROADER EDUCATION AGENDA
The commissioning of the Shiraha classroom block is part of a wider education transformation agenda being implemented across Butere Constituency under Mwale’s leadership.
Through NG-CDF, several schools have benefited from modern storey classroom blocks, ensuring that learners across all wards have access to quality learning facilities.
Beneficiary schools include Ikokwa Primary School, Marenyo/Shianda Ward, Shikulu Primary School, Bulanda Primary School, Shiraha Secondary School, Shibembe Secondary School, Marenyo Primary School, Imanga Secondary School, Ituti Secondary School, Masaba Secondary School, Eshirembe Primary School, Butere Primary School, Shinamwenyuli Secondary School, Muluwa Secondary School, Lukoye Primary School, and Shibuche Primary School.
The growing list of completed projects is gradually changing the face of education in Butere, replacing old and congested classrooms with modern facilities that inspire excellence and ambition.
SECURITY BOOST
Later in the day, Mwale also commissioned the renovated Shiraha Police Post, another NG-CDF-funded project aimed at improving security and enhancing service delivery to residents.
The dual commissioning of education and security projects recognizes that thriving communities are built on two strong foundations: quality education and a safe environment.
As the sun set over Shiraha, the new classroom block stood as a powerful reminder that when leaders invest in education, they invest in dreams. And for the learners of Shiraha Secondary School, those dreams now have a stronger foundation upon which to grow.
