September 30, 2026| Bishop Titus Imoite Papa has been elected spokesperson of the Teso Pastors and Bishops Fellowship, in a move aimed at strengthening unity and cooperation among clergy in the Teso community.
The election was held on Monday during a meeting at the bishop’s residence in Katomei Village, Teso North Sub-County, Busia County, where pastors and bishops deliberated on ways of promoting unity among the clergy. The meeting agreed on the need for a spokesperson to provide a unified voice for Teso pastors and bishops and to help address disagreements affecting the fellowship.
Bishop Imoite’s election comes against the backdrop of longstanding divisions among some pastors and bishops over matters of principle and leadership. The clergy said the new leadership would provide an opportunity to bring together different factions, resolve conflicts constructively, and promote collaboration and mutual respect within the church community.
In his acceptance speech, Bishop Imoite pledged to serve all clergy equally and work towards bringing pastors and bishops together. He also called on political leaders to avoid divisive language, saying negative rhetoric could set a poor example for the youth.
Rev. Dennis Etyang, chairman of the Teso Pastors Fellowship, said there had been longstanding separation among Teso Pentecostal churches and expressed hope that the new leadership would help restore unity.
Dr. Bishop Moses Omuse, chairman of the Teso Bishop Fellowship, called on members to respect the newly elected spokesperson and work collectively for the good of the clergy and the wider community.
Bishop Gabriel Otwane of Jesus Reigns Forever Church, Simbachai, said having a spokesperson for Pentecostal churches would help address and resolve conflicts among congregations.
Bishop Erick Wanjala, organising secretary of the Bishops Fellowship, welcomed the election, saying the clergy were excited to have a father figure to provide leadership and guidance. He described Bishop Imoite as a leader capable of bringing the clergy together.
