Bungoma Senator Sparks Ford-Kenya Resurgence with County Tours and Grassroots Drive

Bungoma, August 12, 2025 – Senator David Wakoli Wafula (Bungoma County) has emerged as one of Ford-Kenya’s most energetic champions on the ground, embarking on a series of high-profile engagements in Mandera, Bungoma, and Homa Bay Counties—in a clear manifestation of the party’s renewed grassroots revival.

On April 29, 2025, Wakoli expressed his gratitude to Ford-Kenya members in Mandera for their steadfast support for Party Leader Rt. Hon. Dr. Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula, affirming shared values of justice, equity, and good governance. He invoked the spirit of unity under the party banner as they sought to “build a stronger, more inclusive Kenya.”

Later, on July 2, 2025, he met with leadership across Bungoma County, touting productive discussions aimed at strengthening party structures, enhancing grassroots mobilization, and fostering unity within the ranks.

Most recently, in Homa Bay, despite a tight schedule, Wakoli convened with Ford-Kenya delegates led by County Chairman Michael Kibogo. He commended their dedication to the party’s vision and reiterated a united front for a more vibrant Ford-Kenya nationwide.

Ford-Kenya’s Strategic Momentum

This resurgence aligns with a broader strategic revival underway within Ford-Kenya. In mid-April 2025, the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) convened in Elementaita Lodge and made a determined resolution not to dissolve or merge with any other entity—standing firm in its autonomy within the Kenya Kwanza coalition. It also initiated a bold rebranding exercise, coupled with a youth-targeted 30-day grassroots registration campaign in counties such as Turkana, Vihiga, West Pokot, Nandi, Kilifi, and Wajir .

In parallel, the party has capitalized on realignments following the ANC’s merger into UDA. High-profile defections from ANC—including two seasoned MCAs from Nandi County—were inducted into Ford-Kenya, strengthening its legislative and grassroots presence. These new members received lifetime memberships, symbolizing Ford-Kenya’s growing appeal .

Further, in June 2025, the Ford-Kenya Youth League in Bungoma intensified its calls for structural renewal, ousting its interim chair and calling for expedited grassroots elections—a clear signal of demand for accountability and youth representation .
