June 19, 2026| Busia gubernatorial aspirant Eng. Vincent Esyepet Sidai has urged county residents to reject Governor Paul Nyongesa Otuoma (pictured) in the 2027 elections, arguing that the governor has little to show in terms of development and is now clinging to the national government’s two-term bandwagon as his only hope for re-election.

Speaking during the burial of village elder Mzee Clement Oporoji, 84, at Aleles Village in Amagoro Location, Teso North Sub-County, Sidai called on the electorate to strategize and unite ahead of the polls to ensure a change of leadership at the county level.

“Let us organize ourselves in order to capture the seat. If we remain united, we shall fulfil our dream,” Sidai told mourners.

The gubernatorial hopeful took aim at Governor Otuoma’s record, asserting that the county administration had failed to effectively utilize resources, with stalled projects and frozen county funds painting a grim picture of leadership failure.

He charged that Otuoma’s development agenda had largely remained on paper, with little to no tangible impact on the lives of ordinary Busia residents.

“Otuoma has failed to excite his development agenda. There is little—if anything—to show for his time in office. That is why he is now hiding behind the broad-based government arrangement and the two-term bandwagon, hoping that President Ruto’s backing will carry him through. We should reject such leaders who seek re-election not on performance, but on political handouts,” Sidai said.

He warned residents against being swayed by pro-government politicians rallying support for the incumbent, insisting that loyalty to Nairobi should not be confused with service to Busia.

Sidai declared himself the best candidate to unseat Otuoma, saying he possesses the credentials and leadership qualities needed to transform the county.

“I am Otuoma’s medicine. I have the credentials that will make you happy. God has prepared the way for me to serve you better,” he said.

Drawing parallels from the Bible, Sidai cited the story of King Saul and David, saying leadership should be anchored on service to humanity.

“Saul offended God and was rejected. God sent Samuel to anoint David king. I too have been anointed by God’s blessings. Leadership is about serving humanity, and I am ready to serve you,” he added.

Sidai appealed to residents to support his 2027 gubernatorial bid, expressing confidence that he would defeat any opponent in the race.

“Take my message to every corner of Busia. I want your votes in 2027. Let the other camp tell me who their strongest candidate is. Whether it is Otuoma or anyone else, I will floor them,” he said.
